The number of people referring to an estate agency when buying or selling property is rising steadily, a survey has shown.

The independent survey, carried out last August and September by Santucci and Brown International, also found that people were becoming more knowledgeable about the industry.

The survey was discussed during a seminar held by Frank Salt (Real Estate) Ltd and addressed by Yvonne Op den Brouw, the researcher.

The survey indicated that 46 per cent of those contacted consider Frank Salt the largest real estate agency in Malta. Frank Salt was also perceived to be one of the most trustworthy agencies and among those delivering the best service.

Frank Salt's managing director, Joseph Lupi, said the company had one of the largest databases of properties both for sale and to let throughout Malta and Gozo, offering clients a wide choice.
