Homes for the elderly rewarded

Casa Arkati, in Mosta and the Cospicua Home for the Elderly were given the 2004 Home Of The Year Awards, having achieved the highest final overall marks following a number of periodic audits carried out last year.

The detailed home audits assess all the operational and quality aspects that affect the provision of care and support to all residents within a CareMalta-operated home.

Alexander Tranter, chief executive officer of CareMalta said: "All our four homes scored very high marks in these home audits but Casa Arkati and the Cospicua Home managed to obtain the higher score in both the private home and government home categories.

"These excellent results clearly show the importance CareMalta puts on measuring the effectiveness and quality of the care services it provides residents on a daily basis in all the Homes it operates."

These awards were presented by Nazzareno Vassallo, chairman of CareMalta, to Antonia Agius, home matron at Casa Arkati, and to Neville Schembri, home manager at the Cospicua Home.

CareMalta Ltd operates four homes: Casa Arkati in Mosta, Villa Messina in Rabat and the government homes for the elderly in Zejtun and Cospicua.
