Fourteen art students, tutored by Matthew Cassar of Rabat, are displaying their works at an exhibition on the theme Tribes at the Society of Art, Manufactures and Commerce, in Valletta.

The students, who will also present their research material, are representing nine different tribes. Their works are rendered in different media. The exhibition shows the creative ability of the students who are following an advanced level module course organised by the Society of Art, Manufactures and Commerce.

The Minister for Tourism and Culture, Francis Zammit Dimech, opened the exhibition and congratulated the students on their work.

"The learning of arts is no more restricted to some 'special category' of the population. Today our younger generation has the facilities to research and practise art in different media. Besides the necessary infrastructure for exhibiting works of art, additional space is now provided in the Heritage Malta museums, in the corridors of Heritage Malta and the Ministry for Tourism and Culture, at the Manoel Theatre and at St James Cavalier," Dr Zammit Dimech said.
