The government is likely to amend again the schedule related to eco-contribution following representations made by the Malta Shooting Federation.
In an official statement yesterday, the government said talks with the federation were held regarding the introduction of the eco-contribution on cartridges.
On Sunday, trap shooting competitions at the Qormi and Bidnija ranges were cancelled in protest against the eco-tax.
The Malta Shooting Federation objected to the 2c eco-tax imposed on each cartridge, arguing that the tax would cost members about Lm50 a month.
Sources said that cartridges containing 24g of shot used for clay pigeon shooting, were likely to be exempt of the tax while other loads used for bird hunting would continue to carry the 2c tax per cartridge.
