Hearts vote to stay at Tynecastle

Hearts are to stay at Tynecastle after shareholders voted overwhelmingly to remain at their Edinburgh ground.

At the club's extraordinary meeting on Monday, 72 per cent of shareholders voted to reject the £20 million deal offered by a property company.

The result was revealed yesterday to the media and posted on the club's website.

Prospective new owner Vladimir Romanov urged supporters to turn down the bid despite their debt of £19.5 million before he met the club's main creditors to outline plans to service that figure.

Romanov, a Lithuanian banking tycoon, is expected to complete the acquisition of chief executive Chris Robinson's 20 per cent shareholding later this week.
