Archbishop Joseph Mercieca has appointed Fr René Vella parish priest of Tarxien.

Fr Vella was born in December 1957 and was ordained in June 1984. He worked for three years from 1993 within the Church's pastoral commission for the labour world, and was co-ordinator for religious broadcasting on state broadcasting for 11 years. At the same time he was also responsible for the Sghajtar pastoral zone near Naxxar.

Recently he carried out pastoral service in Attard parish.
