Mauro Brincat's move from Hamrun Spartans to Floriana took another twist yesterday after it was revealed that the promising midfielder was close to signing for the Premier League club on permanent basis and not on loan until May.

On Tuesday, officials from both clubs were engaged in talks and agreement would have seen Brincat spending the second part of the season on loan at Floriana.

Yesterday, sources confirmed that the deal is still on but talks had now focused on a permanent transfer deal. Negotiations were at an advanced stage and the move could be completed today.
