A woman recounted in court yesterday how she was stabbed at her house on Christmas Day as her boyfriend slept in the same premises.
Therese Cachia explained that after realising that Petkov Dimitrov Krushkov, her former boyfriend, was in her room there was a struggle and he stabbed her in the breast with a knife.
Cachia was testifying before Magistrate Antonio Mizzi in the compilation of evidence against Krushkov who is pleading not guilty to trying to kill her in her St Paul's Bay home at about 8 a.m.
Krushkov, 35, who resides in St Paul's Bay, is also pleading not guilty to slightly injuring Cachia and to the possession of a knife at the time of the commission of the crime.
Cachia explained that on Christmas eve she went to a pub with her boyfriend, her sister and her brother-in-law. She felt uncomfortable when she saw Krushkov in the same bar and so, after some time, they went to another bar. After a night out drinking she went home. Her boyfriend remained at her house because he was too drunk to drive.
On Christmas morning Cachia felt someone touch her and woke up to see Krushkov standing in her room. After a struggle he stabbed her. Her boyfriend remained asleep.
She managed to drive Krushkov out of the room and he left her house. Eventually her boyfriend woke up and they called for assistance.
The case continues.
