Pleads guilty to damaging car

A Libyan man was yesterday remanded in police custody after he admitted to damaging a car and driving dangerously but pleaded not guilty to theft.

Hamza Muhammed Eltroug, 27, pleaded guilty to damaging Kevin Vella's car, driving dangerously and speeding on January 2.

He pleaded not guilty to stealing over Lm50 worth of items from Maria Alison Cassar's Swieqi residence, together with another person, and driving without a licence.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna turned down Eltroug's request for bail at this stage.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.

Dr Franco Debono appeared for Eltroug.
