I refer to the report (December 8) regarding Telecom Italia's unanimous board decision to buy the 44 per cent of Telecom Italia Mobile (TIM) that it did not already own for €20 billion. The report also refers to a similar buyout by France Telecom of Orange. According to the report, full control of a mobile phone operator allows telecoms operators to offer potentially lucrative bundled packages of fixed and mobile services.
Maltacom has fully owned Go Mobile since its launch in December 2000 and I now realise that I must have been very stupid not to take full advantage of providing bundled services, especially since the competition was denying us interconnection for roaming services.
May I recommend to the boards of Maltacom and Go Mobile that they should emulate Telecom Italia and start providing bundled services. Unless some other idiot stops them from doing so, of course.
