The Centre for Labour Market Studies, University of Leicester, is currently accepting applications for the January 2005 intake for the Diploma, Masters and Doctorate programmes. The Certificate programme will, as from next year, be offered only in September.

CLMS is a department within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Leicester and has been offering distance learning programmes in Human Resource Management and Development for the past 13 years.

All courses are internationally recognised and course members come from various parts of the world. There are 1,000 students registered worldwide at any one time. Here in Malta, the number reaches approximately 70 students registered at any one time.

Maltese course members come from all sectors of the economy - private and public sectors, IT, hospitality, manufacturing and financial services. There is also an increase in the number of local organisations willing to support and encourage their employees by sponsoring their further education and training.

The University of Leicester is reputed for its teaching quality and its pioneering research. The Centre too is one of several centres at the University actively involved in research, for which it has developed a strong international reputation.

The research feeds directly into the course materials, thus ensuring that the courses are continuously being updated. CLMS employs an interdisciplinary approach to the programmes, drawing from academic subjects like Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration, Management, Economics and Adult Education.

The University of Leicester is the UK's biggest provider of taught postgraduate programmes, with more than 6,000 students from over 115 countries studying by distance learning. It has thus developed a range of support services for students on such programmes.

CLMS too, with over 13 years of experience, has produced a team dedicated to provide the highest levels of support to distance learners. This level of support has been cascaded to the agency in Malta.
