Higher bus fares from today
Higher bus fares come into effect this morning except for the elderly and students, following the 5c increase announced in the last budget.
The new bus fare for one stage is 15c for adults and 10c for children. For travel within one zone it is 20c for adults and 15c for children; for travel within two zones 23c for adults and 15c for children; for travel within three zones 25c for adults and 15c for children.
The fare for the elderly remains 10c.
Tickets for special services will cost both the elderly and adults 25c and children 15c.
The fare for the express (direct) transport will be 50c for adults and 25c for children.
Students who have a bus pass pay 40c on routes 453 and 475. The fare for circular and direct routes to the university is 30c and for parts of these routes 20c, while that for circular and direct routes to Sliema and Paceville is 35c.
Day tickets are Lm1.50, three-day tickets Lm4, five-day tickets Lm5 and seven-day tickets Lm6.
In Gozo, a trip within the same town or village now costs 7c and from one town to another 20c.
The fare for the direct routes from Victoria to Dwejra, Dwejra to Victoria, Victoria to Ramla l-Hamra and Ramla l-Hamra to Victoria is 35c.
The fare for users on weekdays between 5.30 and 8 a.m. and for Xewkija industrial estate workers between 3.45 and 4.15 p.m. is 13c.
A 15c fare will be charged to Gozo residents working in Malta on trips from Mgarr to Victoria between 4 and 6 p.m. between September 15 and June 30 and from 2 to 4 p.m. on other days.
Children aged between three and 10 pay 10c.
