HSBC Bank and Bank of Valletta had words of appreciation for the police for the prompt and efficient way in which they handled the case of theft of confidential credit card information via special equipment attached to ATMs.

The two banks assured customers they continuously update their internal security systems in order to remain vigilant for the benefit of card holders and to safeguard the interests of all their customers.

The two commercial banks said the use of cards on ATMs was safe and secure and customers should continue using such facilities. They underlined the importance of diligently abiding by the normal card and PIN security instructions.
