An In Guardia historical re-enactment took place on Sunday at the Valletta Waterfront to welcome visitors from the cruise liner Costa Magica, which was on her first visit to Malta.
The event was organised by Viset, operators of the cruise liner terminal, and the Malta Tourism Authority.
This brand new 17-storey high ship owned by Costa Crociere had 3,119 tourists on board.
Last Sunday, the cruise liner Costa Europa arrived in Malta with 1,618 passengers on board, bringing the total number of tourists in one day to 4,737. Dirk Spiteri Lucas, Viset waterfront business manager, said this showed the popularity Malta was gaining as a winter cruising destination. In fact, last month there were 9,294 more cruise liners passengers visiting than in November last year.
