How many representatives will Malta have in the Committee of the Regions?
Under the Treaty of Nice that is currently in force, Malta has five members in the Committee of the Regions. They are mayors or councillors in Maltese and Gozitan local councils. The new constitution for Europe does not list how many members each member state would have once the constitution comes into effect. The constitution lays down that such a decision is taken by the Council of Ministers, acting unanimously on a proposal from the European Commission.
