Totally disregarding the judgement of learned economists, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and his cronies opened an offensive against Alfred Sant accusing him that his devaluation proposal will only lead to devour 10 per cent of the workers' hard earned income. Assuming that is true, Dr Sant had only clinically diagnosed a terminal ailment and recommended effective treatment accordingly. The people's ailment was brought about by the Nationalist governments that emptied the public coffers like there was no tomorrow.

Isn't Dr Gonzi's blatant attack on Dr Sant like an open hostility against the physician who diagnosed the illness rather than pointing the finger at the fatalist who caused the disease?
