The unemployment rate for July stood at 5.6 per cent of the labour supply.

The rate for men was 6.3 per cent whereas that of women was 3.8 per cent, according to the National Statistics Office.

The long-term unemployment rate stood at 2.4 per cent and the unemployment rate for those 45 years and over stood at 4.4 per cent. That among people under 25 was 9.5 per cent.

In November there were a total of 8,125 unemployed persons registering under part 1 and part 2 of the unemployment register. Of these, 6,488, or 79.9 per cent, were men and 1,637, or 20.1 per cent, were women.

The November figure shows a drop of 47 persons over the preceding month and a decrease of 152 compared to November of last year.
