The General Workers' Union said it will be meeting the Federation of Industry today to discuss the government's decision, announced in the budget, to reduce employees' annual leave.

The union said the meeting is being held at the request of the FOI after a letter was sent to all employers by the GWU warning it was prepared to resort to action against employers who failed to honour their collective agreements and the Employment and Industrial Relations Act.

The GWU said it had immediately expressed its opposition to the measure announced by the government and its intention not to tolerate any infringement of collective agreements or the law.
