Trew to prepare Malta team for small states championship
Hectic calendar for 2005
The Malta Triathlon Association (MTA) has just held its annual general meeting which took place at the Cottonera Sports Complex.
During his address, the association president, Emmanuel Azzopardi, thanked all those who in any way had made the 2004 season a success and augured that the next one would be equally fruitful, despite a serious lack of substantial sponsorship deals.
The main event of the 2005 season is the Triathlon Championship for the Small States of Europe.
Malta's top athletes, David Galea, Mark Zammit, Maria Mifsud Bonnici and Danica Spiteri will be focusing their energies on the championship which will be held in Luxembourg.
In the meantime, the services of British coach Steve Trew will again be requested to conduct a training camp here in preparation of this event.
On the domestic scene, the MTA (www.maltatriathlon.org) has again prepared a hectic programme of races.
These range from super sprints for beginners to the Gozo-Malta Triathlon, which ranks as one of the toughest sporting events on our shores.
