Danish brewing group Carlsberg said that according to the market research company Canadean its lager brand was the fastest growing international beer brand in the world for the second year running.
Canadean defines international brand growth as the brand's total volume minus volume in its home market. Average growth for international brands is about 3.5 per cent per year.
Carlsberg increased its sales by 11.5 per cent, or one million hectolitres, in 2003. Carlsberg said it is now the third largest beer brand in the world.
