Traffic lights removed

What made the authority concerned remove both traffic lights at St George's Road, St Julians? Traffic is so heavy that crossing without lights is a real risk. My mother is in her late 80s and since some "bright candle" came up with the idea she can't go on her usual errands as she's too afraid to cross such a busy road.

I'm sure many of the people living in the area are in the same predicament.

The St Julians local council said they have no say in the matter but I'm sure they can do something to have pelican zebra crossings. The sooner, the better.
