The Circolo Gozitano - Gozo's leading social club - will officially reopen its doors to members and the public today with a ceremony presided over by Mr Speaker Anton Tabone.
The reopening of the club's premises is a result of the resolution of long outstanding legal issues and now the Circolo is in a position to meet all its legal as well as financial commitments.
The present committee, elected for the first time on August 24 and confirmed at the annual general meeting on October 31, is made up of: Dr Grazio Mercieca, president; George Vella, vice-president/PRO; Saviour Grech, secretary; Joe Sultana, treasurer; Dr Joseph Ellis and Dr Alfred Grech, legal advisers; and Roger Portelli, premises director.
The committee is currently drawing up a programme of activities for next year with the aim of providing activities related to culture, sports and discussion.
It also aims to restore the leading role that the club used to have in Gozo's public life as well as to establish a place where Gozo residents can meet in a convivial and relaxed atmosphere.
