British duo Akasha will be performing live at R1 Bar in Valletta tomorrow for Misfits' December event.

The duo is made up of Damian Hand, on saxophone, flute and vocals, and Charlie Casey who will be playing guitar, vocals and produces all the electronic elements of the band.

Since the critical and public success of their 1998 debut album Cinematique, Akasha have successfully continued their musical adventure.

Their second piece of work called Love Philtre Magic is now on general release.

Brixton-based producers Mr Hand and Mr Casey spent 18 months recording the album in a decrepit 18th century mansion and the finished product brims with spooky gothic flourishes.

The brooding instrumental pieces are admirably ambitious, echoing David Holmes' film scores and occasionally adding voguish Eastern tinged drum and bass to the proceedings.
