Malta and Tunisia have agreed to set up a joint business council in the next few months to facilitate business and trade between the two countries, the foreign ministers of both countries said yesterday.

Foreign Minister Michael Frendo and his Tunisian counterpart Abdelbaki Hermassi were speaking at Malta International Airport yesterday afternoon at the end of a "successful" round of talks on bilateral cooperation, the Mediterranean and other issues within the framework of the Malta/Tunisian Joint Commission.

It was also agreed to have yearly political consultations with meetings being held alternatively in Malta and Tunisia.

Dr Frendo also announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Malta Enterprise and its Tunisian counterpart organisation to promote investment and trade cooperation.
