As a Mosta resident for the past 39 years and as one who enjoys church functions when they are well organised from all angles I would like to publicly thank HSBC's Mosta area manager, Richard Mercieca, for the bank's donation towards the restoration of the largest mechanical pipe organ in Malta (which was in dire need of repair), found at the Rotunda.

But for the sake of correctness, I would like to point out that the bank's donation (as reported in The Times on November 27), was made to Fr Mario Tong who has been officially in charge of Mosta parish since December 8, 2003.

While on the subject, one has also to thank Mosta Gunners Football Club, which, on learning of the intention of former Archpriest Joe Carabott (now Monsignor), to restore the pipe organ, they came forward to offer financial help. The cost for restoration is estimated to be in the region of Lm40,000.

It is sincerely hoped that other companies and the parishioners will also contribute generously as they have always done.
