Milos Stanisavljevic among finalists

Local Sportsmanship Act Trophy winner Milos Stanisavljevic (picture) will be featuring among the finalists of the International Fair Play Awards 2004 today in Athens.

Stanisavljevic, the Malta youth handball national coach, has been shortlisted as one of the finalists in a category reserved for an athlete or a team for an act of fair play. The two other categories are related to a person's impressive sporting career and for a person or an organisation's promotion of fair play values.

The winner in Stanisavljevic's category will be awarded the Pierre de Coubertin trophy while the other finalists will either receive an honorary diploma or a letter of congratulations.

The awards are conferred by the Board of Directors which comprises the jury of the International Committee for Fair Play. A special guest during the presentation ceremony will be IOC president Jacques Rogge.

Next week, Stanisavljevic will be leading the U-18 national side in the Malta International handball Tournament at the University Sports Hall. Apart from Malta, DR Congo, England, Nigeria and the United States shall be taking part.
