The government will be proposing new measures to empower the police to take criminal action against persons loitering in the streets for prostitution.

Answering a parliamentary question, Parliamentary Secretary Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici said that people dressed in a certain way in certain areas notorious for prostitution would be liable to prosecution.

This should help residents of certain areas who felt uneasy about going out in their own streets at certain times of the day. These residents are also concerned that the current situation was depreciating their properties' value.
