Ten HSBC Bank Malta employees are part of a group of 500 HSBC Group employees selected from around the world to take part in the bank's Employee Environmental Fellowship Programme.
During 2005, Roberta Camilleri, Glen Bugeja, Sonia Tonna, Miriam de Gabriele, Gordon Gilford, Stefan Pace, Josianne Rivans, Victor Friggieri, Paul Farrugia and Rosemarie Dorekens will spend time working on a number of Earthwatch projects in various countries around the world.
They will take part in projects ranging from the conservation of butterflies in Vietnam and of bats in Malaysia to the protection of marine mammals in Brazil.
The programme forms part of the Investing In Nature partnership launched by HSBC in February 2002.
Through this US$50 million programme HSBC Group offers 500 employees a year the chance to become personally involved in scientific and environmental research projects around the globe.
When the HSBC staff return to Malta, they may join or start environmental projects locally, with HSBC funding, using the skills and experience learnt with Earthwatch.
