Din l-Art Helwa, the National Trust, will be holding a reunion of its 'old' teenagers at the Red Tower in Mellieha on April 30, to mark its 40th anniversary.
The first teenage section of Din l-Art Helwa was set up in 1967 and its members were very active in the cleaning of the mediaeval chapels of Bir Miftuh and Hal Millier and the Wignacourt Tower in St Paul's Bay, which were later given in trust to the organisation.
They also conducted several anti-litter campaigns and were involved in the early stages of the rehabilitation of the area that is today formally designated as the Mellieha Bird Sanctuary and Nature Reserve.
Several of these first 'old' teenagers are no longer on the organisation's database as some are married and bear different surnames.
Many have left the island and live abroad and are no longer contactable and, therefore, will not be able to receive the invitation to this grand reunion being organised in their honour.
Din l-Art Helwa said it would be happy to get in touch with these ex-volunteers and is asking anybody forming part of the original group or who knows of their whereabouts to contact the Din l-Art Helwa offices on 2122 0358 or call at 133, Melita Street, Valletta as soon as possible.
