A second Qormi man was yesterday charged with trying to rob two elderly men and trying to carry out a hold up at a lotto booth on Wednesday.
Justin Fenech, 21, pleaded not guilty to trying to carry out a hold up at lotto booth 168 to the detriment of Charles Pool, holding the people in the booth against their will and slightly injuring Pool at about 10.15 a.m.
He also pleaded not guilty to the possession of a harpoon without a licence, assaulting and trying to rob Salvatore Fenech and John Muscat at 10 a.m., stealing Brian Camilleri's car earlier on in the day and stealing Edwin Emanuel Fiott's car on November 19.
Last Friday Jeffrey Vella, 23, also of Qormi was charged with his involvement in the attempted hold-up and robbery.
Both Fenech and Vella are pleading not guilty to all charges brought against them and were remanded in custody.
Police Inspectors Anthony Portelli and Maria Stella Cutajar prosecuted.
Dr Ian Farrugia and Dr Michael Sciriha appeared for Fenech while Dr Tonio Azzopardi appeared for Vella.
