The founding director of the DiploFoundation, which is part of the Mediterranean Academy of Diplomatic Studies, the international relations arm of the University of Malta, has been selected as a member of the UN Secretary General's Working Group on Internet Governance.
The inclusion of Jovan Kurbalija in the group is an acknowledgement of its pioneering role, DiploFoundation said.
UN Secretary General Kofi Anan announced the composition of the group following the conclusions of the World Summit on Information Society held in Geneva last year.
The main objective of the group is to map future governance of the internet.
The DiploFoundation is a non-profit organisation which works to assist all countries, particularly those with limited human and financial resources, to participate meaningfully in international affairs, through education and training programmes, research, and the development of information and communications technologies for diplomatic activities.
