New manager of Corinthia resort

Corinthia Hotels International yesterday announced the appointment of Irish national Shaun McCarthy as general manager of its upscale Corinthia San Gorg and Marina Resort in St Julians.

The resort comprises the five-star Corinthia San Gorg Hotel and the adjoining five-star Corinthia Marina Hotel.

Mr McCarthy is vastly experienced in the international five-star hotel sector and Malta's hotel scene in particular, having re-located here four years ago with the Intercontinental Hotel Group.

For the previous 12 years, he was general manager of the renowned Crowne Plaza Midland in Manchester, England, a hotel he had opened successfully following a major renovation and refurbishment programme.

Before joining Corinthia, Mr McCarthy was general manager of the Crowne Plaza in Sliema.

The Corinthia San Gorg is owned by International Hotel Investments Plc (IHI) and together with the Corinthia Marina Hotel, is operated by Corinthia Hotels International.
