In-form AS Libertas runner Gerald Grech practically made sure of the 2004/05 Road Run-ning League title when finishing second behind Belgian Christian Nemeth in Qrendi yesterday.
Grech, who won the first two legs in Ghajn Tuffieha and Zebbug, made it a memorable day for him and his team as Libertas won the team's competition, also thanks to the strong finishing of Charles Cilia (third), Peter Azzopardi and Xandru Grech.
Nemeth triumphed in 32.38 and Grech's time was 33.18. Cilia (34.50) made it to the finish line ahead of fourth-placed Mark Herrera (35.01), of Pembroke.
Jonathan Balzan is a distant second in the overall positions with the last leg to go in January.
Carol Galea, was 12th overall yesterday. Her timing at Tal-Maqluba was 37.09. Lisa Bezzina was second (39.07) and Giselle Camilleri third (39.23).
