'Talks should go on'

The Confederation of Malta Trade Unions said yesterday it believed that the social partners should continue discussing and negotiating measures proposed by the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development for a social pact.

These talks should lead to consensus among all the social partners, the CMTU said. It noted that the document was just a "draft document" drawn up by the MCESD chairman for discussion with the social partners.

It stressed that it never expressed itself to be in favour of all the measures mentioned in the document.
