No plan on use of alternative energy sources

The government was yesterday accused of not having any plan or strategy to encourage the use of alternative energy.

Labour MPs Joe Brincat and Roderick Galdes said parliamentary questions made in the past few days showed that to date the government has not made much use of new sources of energy for its agencies and departments.

Dr Brincat and Mr Galdes said alternative sources of energy decrease the negative impact on the environment and also diminish the financial burdens which people have to carry because of the increasing oil prices.

"One expects the government and its departments to act as leaders in such initiatives," they said. However, they continued, this was not the case and the government's investment in this sector was measly in the past years.
