No natural substance possesses quite the same allure as diamonds and Sterling Jewellers' is using its dazzling Waterfall Collection of cascading diamond jewellery as bait to entice you to its eighth annual exhibition.
During this exhibition, being held at Le Meridien Phoenicia Hotel, in Floriana between today and November 28, Sterling Jewellers will unveil this brand new collection of colliers and earrings, some of which are mounted with more than 1,000 brilliant cut diamonds.
"We wanted to design unique pieces which flow with a woman's movement and steer clear of decades of rigidity, so the Waterfall Collection was born," Sterling Jewellers chairman Alfred Fenech said.
Sterling's designs were brought to life by craftsmen in Italy and each piece will be up for grabs at the exhibition, so think early if you plan to add a sparkle to your partner's Christmas stocking.
Alternatively, you can choose from an exquisite array of loose diamonds to create your very own original piece, since the exhibition will include a workshop to mount the gems on the spot.
Diamonds, which are formed in the earth's interior and have shot to the surface by extraordinary volcanoes, are likely to the oldest thing you will ever own, probably three billion years in age.
Sterling Group director Romina Grech Fenech said the exhibition was aptly titled Emozioni O4, because it focused on the emotions, which usually revolve around giving or receiving jewellery.
A new collection of diamond trilogy jewellery will also be on display and those visiting the exhibition will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to win a diamond trilogy ring.
However, the exhibition is not just about diamonds and Mr Fenech said the public could feast their eyes on eye-catching gold pieces and gems, the new phenomenon of magnetic wedding rings, classic timepieces, semi-precious stones and fashionable silver jewellery.
"This is an exhibition for everyone and we feel it provides the perfect opportunity to do a spot of early Christmas shopping. Whatever your budget, we can find the right gift," he said.
Singing duo Julie and Ludwig are the ambassadors of this exhibition, which is in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The end of the exhibition will mark the opening of a brand new Sterling Jewellers outlet in the confines of the Main Street Shopping Complex, in Paola, to provide loyal customers in the south of the island greater convenience. In all, Sterling Jewellers has 24 outlets scattered across Malta and Gozo.
So what's behind the success of this family-run business?
"I guess it has been our constant thirst to develop and grow. At Sterling our motto has always been to forge ahead with innovative ideas. To achieve this you have to work hard, but it's worth it," Mr Fenech said.
The exhibition is open between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. today and tomorrow; and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Saturday to November 28. Entrance is free.
