Labour general secretary Jason Micallef recently met Martin Schulz, leader of the Party of European Socialists in the European Parliament in Brussels, where he explained the MLP's stand on the European Constitution.

In a statement yesterday, the party said that Mr Schulz understood the party's situation and until the MLP took a stand its three MEPs would be exempt from expressing their opinion on the European Constitution.

Mr Micallef had various meetings while in Brussels and also met with Labour's three MEPs, John Attard Montalto, Louis Grech and Joseph Muscat.
