Cultural evening to deal with heritage

Rabat local council, in conjunction with Din l-Art Helwa, is holding a cultural evening in the conference hall of Canon P. Pullicino Girls Secondary School, Rabat, entrance from College Street, tomorrow at 6 p.m.

Din l-Art Helwa's presentation team, led by John Sare' and Victor Rizzo, will be focusing on heritage in Rabat.

The presentation will cover life in Malta during the Roman period, the Roman home, the old city of Melitae.

It will focus on the wealth and architectural legacy still existing in Rabat from this time as evidenced by the Roman walls excavated below the Telemalta digital exchange and the numerous Roman walls and columns found in and around Mdina.

Of interest will be the exquisite mosaics of the Roman Domus, the Grotto of St Paul with its several statues, the altarpiece of St Publius and the Trittiku of the Madonna of the Temple.

Aspects of local heritage and the work of Din l-Art Helwa over the last 40 years in the field of cultural heritage will also be covered.

The presentation is part of Din l-Art Helwa's outreach educational programme.

The event is open to all, admission is free
