I totally agree with Mr M. Agius (The Sunday Times, October 31) regarding the incompetence of Maltapost.

From now on, when I need to send a letter, I take it by hand to ensure it has reached its destination.

In the past three months we mailed three letters to our home address which were lost while in the custody of Maltapost.

On August 4, my wife mailed a letter to our own address from the letter-box opposite our house but this letter never arrived. Later on I complained to the Maltapost head office at Marsa only to be told that "we couldn't find this letter, I'm sorry".

On October 26 the story repeated itself with two other lost letters again in the custody of Maltapost.

As a result, I have had to pay penalties to the VAT office and pay again for tickets issued by local wardens, since my letters never reach them.
