A man was yesterday conditionally discharged for two years and his friend had a two-year conditional discharge extended to four after the two were found guilty of trying to break into a car.

Clayton Falzon, 22, of Qrendi and Francois Cumbo, 24, of Zurrieq were charged with trying to break into a car parked outside Gianpula, in Rabat and damaging it on August 2, 2003.

Cumbo was charged with breaching the conditions of a two-year conditional discharge and during the operative time of a suspended jail term.

After evaluating the evidence, Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera conditionally discharged Falzon for two years and ordered that Cumbo's conditional discharge be extended from two to four years. She also fined Cumbo Lm400

Police Inspector Angelo Caruana prosecuted.
