Lifecycle raised Lm33,850 in its nine-day cycling challenge during which a team of 32 cyclists and 18 support crew travelled over 1,600 kilometres from Paris to Madrid.

In order to be eligible to participate in the event, each member of the team had to raise a minimum of Lm250 but much more was in fact collected.

Twenty-six cyclists completed the challenge and six were unable to finish the ride due to injury, exhaustion or failing to make the time limit.

The money raised from this year's challenge will be used to buy much needed equipment for the renal unit at St Luke's Hospital.

Lifecycle is also donating four Home Choice machines worth Lm4,000 each which will enable patients to carry out renal dialysis at home, as well as another dialysis machine, worth Lm15,000, to the hospital.

Lifecycle has also undertaken the cost of refurbishment of the renal unit.

Donations can be made to LifeCycle Organisation, c/o The Renal Unit, St Luke's Hospital, or online.
