New national ranking system launched

Malta Squash unanimously approved a new ranking system at last week's committee meeting.

The new ranking system came into effect on November 1 with any approved tournaments given a grading ranging from Grade four (the lowest) to Gold (the highest).

As from November 1, any player wishing to be considered for national squad training or selection for international tournaments must have a national ranking. Points will be awarded for each round enabling a new national ranking system to be put in place.

Only men ranked 1-10 and ladies 1-6 will be considered for national squad training, which starts in February, or any international events involving Malta.

A ranking tournament will be held at regular intervals at all Malta Squash approved centres.

The first such competition of the new season will be staged tomorrow with Cynergi holding a Grade two tournament (open to all players).

Further information on rankings or how to host a Malta Squash graded event may be obtained by sending an email to [email protected].
