Everyone knows by now that Silvio Berlusconi has inaugurated the Libya to Sicily natural gas pipeline and that it passes near Filfla.

Could our Prime Minister tangent off a line from this pipeline, fix a gas meter and pipe it to Birzebbuga, feeding Enemalta's power station and the newly proposed gas filling plant? It's all a matter of money, I suppose. Well the EU could give us a grant and the World Bank a loan and the Maltese would have electricity at half the price instead of double next January and gas would be half price as in Italy.

And to produce this pipeline and, possibly, fix it as well, Malta should get Malta Shipyards to do the job. Nobody has said much about this idea so far.
