Cruelty to cats
We were told by ELC that the removed cats are well. First of all if they removed 25 cats (at least) more than half disappeared even from Wied Incita, therefore how can ELC tell us that they are well? Some (a few) have returned to their beloved place, i.e.
We were told by ELC that the removed cats are well. First of all if they removed 25 cats (at least) more than half disappeared even from Wied Incita, therefore how can ELC tell us that they are well? Some (a few) have returned to their beloved place, i.e. San Anton. So how can these be well at Wied Incita? Honestly, I cannot see how ELC can face us.
ELC management thinks that cats do not matter a lot. The consortium management is mistaken. To many citizens, cats are much loved, more than plants, most of which produce poisons. This unilateral act by ELC to remove the cats is undemocratic. The reason given for this cruel act (for it is cruelty to cats to remove them from their territory, in fact as cruel as removing their claws) is that there are too many. To control the population one has to neuter the cats and not remove them.
Those who study cats know that I am saying the truth. Caring of cats properly is not only interesting (as bird watching) but also an art in itself. May I suggest some books on cats to the members of ELC to digest the contents and be enlightened that cats should not be moved from their territory?
(a) Roger Tabor's Cat Behaviour. Recognised as one of the world's leading authorities on the subject, naturalist and biologist Tabor has researched, written and presented two feline BBC television series - Cats, which were highly successful internationally, and Understanding Cats.
(b) Desmond Morris's Catwatching. This international bestseller illustrates, among other interesting features, the importance of territory and the stress cats suffer when they lose their territory.
(c) Paul Gallico's The Silent Miaow explains the bond that cats develop with certain humans. Therefore, when they are removed from their territory, this bond is cruelly disrupted (and this applies also for the kind feeders at San Anton; feeders who have unscrupulously been robbed of their beloved ones).
And (d) Cats of Malta by a Japanese author. This illustrated book depicts cats from at least 12 localities, including San Anton pp80-81. This book was published to show how cats adorn the environment.
They do not destroy it. There are many more points that one can expand on, such as type of food, health and love.
Please return the cats to San Anton.
