A 26-year-old Libyan was yesterday jailed for seven months for violently resisting eight police officers who tried to arrest him in Paceville two years ago.

Abou Brek Yousef was found guilty of assaulting the police officers and damaging a police uniform on October 19, 2002.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera condemned the assault on the officers who were carrying out their duty.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
