A "substantial" number of workers at Menrad Co. Ltd have become members of the General Workers' Union after the company recently laid off 65 workers, the union said yesterday.
The GWU's manufacturing and small enterprises section held a meeting with Menrad's management to discuss the rights and interests of the workers.
During the meeting, the GWU complained with the management about the "incorrect" way it was dealing with the workers in giving the notice payment, the union said.
