A magistrate yesterday ruled there were enough reasons for the indictment of a Chinese woman charged with conspiring to help immigrants leave Malta illegally.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti ruled for the indictment of Geng Yan, 37, who is pleading not guilty to assisting men in their attempt to leave Malta illegally on October 2.

The magistrate heard how three Chinese men had given Yan $400 each to assist them in their attempt to leave Malta for Sicily. The men also paid $1,100 each to a Maltese man.

Inspector Mario Haber prosecuted.
