Work has started on phase two of the St George's Bay beach development project.

The beach was completely transformed with the laying of sand in the first phase of the project last May. This phase also included the construction of part of the storm water system in the bay.

In the second phase of the project, the storm water system will be completed and a promenade constructed to connect the two sides of the bay.

The Malta Tourism Authority said it was estimated that between June and October close to 100,000 tourists and Maltese nationals made use of the bay. The effective management of the area by the MTA ensured that users were provided with a clean beach and basic amenities throughout this period.
