Half-Maltese, half-Canadian young and aspiring singer/songwriter David Schembri is here on a short visit, flying back to Vancouver tomorrow to write his first record.
"I moved here in Malta from Canada when I was eight, and stayed for a while, doing musical theatre projects and plays.
"My first guitar was an old Fender Mustang and this is where it all started. It continued in Toronto after I visited this hotel lobby where my parents had taken me years back as a child. I sat down and wrote the lyrics of my first real quality song, Ride On," he told The Times.
Mr Schembri has performed at the Capitol Hill Arts Centre in Seattle, Washington State, and while here performed twice at Cilantro, Mgarr.
He is also a Yoga teacher, which he says "works wonders with my music writing and performances".
"Yoga has also helped me immensely, helping me find myself," Mr Schembri added.
