Bank of Valletta will once again be supporting Festival Mediterranea, organised by the Astra Theatre.
Currently in its third consecutive year, this year's festival is being held from Thursday to November 7.
Festival Mediterranea will feature music, heritage, crafts, tradition, history and dance. On Saturday, Puccini's opera Tosca, will be performed at the Hilton Malta, while YADA Dance Company will be producing Bailamos el Flamenco with Spanish and Latin forms of dance at the Hilton a week later.
Three-morning lecture sessions entitled 'A New Look at Old Temples', with the participation of the well-known archaeologist Dr David Trump, will be held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel. BoV Gozo branch manager Jack Theuma presented the sponsorship to Astra Theatre president Dolindo Cassar during a visit to the theatre. Mr Theuma praised the Astra Theatre management committee for the restoration works at the theatre which had been extensively damage by a fire last November. He said that BoV has regularly supported the theatre in its efforts to organise cultural activities of a high standard. Thanking BoV for its continuous support for the festival, Mr Cassar said: "This year's festival features another rich cultural programme which is not aimed at promoting Gozo as a cultural destination but also towards fostering better appreciation for the arts and heritage locally."
